This course will help teachers make poetry come alive in the classroom. Using creative strategies and activities, teachers will gain confidence sharing the joys of reading and writing poetry with children of all ages. The course texts offer inspiration and encouragement, plus lots of practical ideas; many are reproducible. Georgia Heard's popular book, Awakening the Heart, explores the potential of poetry to enrich learning and stimulate personal growth. Teachers may complete this course with or without students. Grades K-8.
